Having graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Takahama designed the Japanese pavilion at La Triennale di Milano in 1953. While overseeing the installation, Takahama met Dino Gavina, who invited Takahama to work as a designer at his company, Gavina SpA. During the next decade, Takahama created various projects including the “DaDa” storage unit and the semi-circular shelf system called “GEA” for Gavina. When Knoll bought Gavina in 1968, Takahama’s three collections – Marcel, Raymond, and Suzanne – was added to Knoll’s portfolio. Famous designer also designed for B&B Italia besides Cassina, Gavina SpA, and Knoll.
