A fine Napoleon III period writing desk in mahogany, with gilt-bronze mounts and brass banding, the surface composed of an unusual and richly-colored marble top.
The deep red and white marble top resting within a brass border, above a mahogany frieze of three sliding drawers, all fitted with gilt-bronze borders and ring-pulls.
The opposite of the frieze with three false drawer-fronts, and all sides with gilt-bronze edging and figured mahogany.
The body rests on tapering legs ending in mounted feet, each leg surmounted by capitals fitted with gilt-bronze strands of ‘bell-flowers’ within fluting.
