The parcel-painted frame has hues of cream, gold, and gray. All four corners have angular projections that give the rectangular glass added depth. The glass is surrounded by a layer of beading (with the exception of the bottom), that is interrupted in the upper corners by rosettes, all of which is enveloped by a thin molding. A repeating olive husk embellishes the raised edges of the frame, with a dangling floral margent on each side, affixed to the bottom of the upper corners by a hook. The highlight of the frame is a beautifully carved, scrolled console crest festooned with beading, a crinkle ribbon, and a rosette above a pair of crossed olive branches. Our painted French Napoleon III mirror can be placed in any bedroom of the house and could also be placed above a console in a hallway, grand foyer, or living room.
