19th century French Renaissance Barley twist armoire was crafted by master artisans from solid, old-growth indigenous oak during the Napoleon III Period, when craftsmanship reached a plateau of quality recognized the world over! The amazing heraldic crest atop the crown, which features its own version of a crest, are both nestled amongst artfully sculpted acanthus plumes, foliage and flower motifs, then framed with several variations of classical molding. Two impressive ball finials flank the crown, and are positioned above the bold molding just above a vertical rosette, followed by full length barley twist columns that extend all the way down to the bottom of the centered door. The door is fitted with its original beveled mirror which has been exquisitely preserved. Below all that lies the base with its repeating vertical rosettes on each corner providing a framework for the exquisite relief carving on the full width drawer, and multiple tiers of molding emanating out towards the floor. The door opens to reveal a nicely spacious interior, ready to adapt to your purposes.
