Monumental 19th century French water pump fountain made by Louis Jonet. This large cast iron piece would have been mounted above a large stone trough to catch water. Reminiscent of the famous big nose fountains of Rome, Italy. The large housing has a hand crank on the side and a platform around the bottom. The front has a large lions head motif spigot with a family crest decorated with two swans and birds. Topped with a dome shaped cap having louvers to view inside and a large finial on top. There is an access door on the side. Impressive piece that is very heavy. From an estate in Santa Barbara, CA. French legalese patent info stamped on dome.
