Known as bras de lumière (“arm of light”), this pair of French cast iron sconces from the 1800’s features a magnificent rinceau of foliage with a central floret. Both arms emanate from a one inch thick shaped attaching plate that is adorned with additional foliage and scrolls. The large arms extend outwards in a graceful S-curve display comprised of curled acanthus leaves. At the terminal end of each arm is a fluted capital with a flat top that would have most likely supported lanterns. Our pair of cast iron bras de lumière can be installed indoors or outside as large decorative wall sconces. They could also still be fitted with gas or electric lanterns to provide a wonderful source of lighting.
Each sconce weighs 45 lbs.
