Large 18th Century Heavy Iron Fire Back, Andirons and Grate
This is an Early Very Heavy Large Fire Back Matched with an 18th Century Pair of Iron Andirons and a replacement Large Grate
The fire back is definitely not a reproduction it is an 18th Century piece it is the story of King Charles II who was reputed to have hidden in the Oak tree to avoid capture, you can see the crowns and his initials quite clearly
The Fire Back which is 3” thick has been matched with some tall soup bowl andirons and they come with a replacement grate so very useable in a large fireplace
The plaque shows signs of its 300 years of age but it is sound and there are no repairs, is probably weighs 200kgs
This delightful piece will serve well in an Inglenook or similar fireplace, a plan to install it will be required as it takes several people to lift it
The Fire back is 29” high, 34” wide and 3” thick
The Fire back, Andirons and Grate assembly is 29” high, 36” wide and 33” back to front
