A striking French 19th Century Louis XV st. Napoleon III period ebony, brass inlaid and ormolu mounted Boulle desk. The two drawer desk is raised by cabriole legs elegantly decorated by ormolu chutes leading to the bottom ormolu pierced sabots. The scalloped apron has a central mount of a masculine mask flanked by inlaid brass designs. The two drawers have richly chased ormolu handles with foliate scrolls. The two sides have a repeat of the same brass inlay as the drawers with a central ormolu mount of ‘S’ scrolled acanthus leaves and a central shell. The top has four corners richly decorated by inlaid brass fillets of scrolls which border the black leather and gold tooled top. All framed within a richly chased palmette designed ormolu gallery.
