Beautiful Napoleon III style walnut cabinet, richly carved, made in the second half of the 19th century. The carved decoration is very detailed, refined, and of high quality.
Five enamelled plates adorn the doors, apron and pediment of this cabinet. The enamels bear the monogram “RF” and “after Henry Lesur” which leads us to think that these plates were made after paintings by Henry Lesur. Henry Lesur was a popular painter of the 19th century, born in 1863. He exhibited very often at the Salons and specialized in genre scenes like “A scene in Paris in the time of Louis XIV”, “a lady with her gentleman” , etc., which perfectly matches the enamels on this piece of furniture.
