19th century Dutch walnut tilt top end table represents the refinement of furniture craftsmanship in Western Europe melded with the traditional entertaining rituals of the more affluent. Using sumptuously grained walnut, a round top with molded rail was affixed to a finely carved and turned pedestal atop which is a spindled cage onto which the tilting mechanism is mounted. The entire affair is supported by elegantly scrolled and carved tripod legs. The clever design allows one to use as a lamp table or end table, then the top can be tilted so the table can be pushed against the wall out of the way,
